Description

Amazing route, started at 7pm and down for 5pm. alt lead i led the cruxes. definitely a bit of a sting in the tail to finish the route.
Managed to top out just as the storm began, strong 70mph southerly wind just as we got to 1141. Just made it!
I carried both rucksacks, Ali had really bad heal spurs.

Area : Ben Macdui, Carn Etchachan, Shelter Stone Crag and Stacan Dubha (winter)

The cliffs of the Ben Macdui massif offer some excellent and remote winter climbing, the best of which is found in Coire Sputan Dearg and on Creagan a' Choire Etchachan. Using a bicycle as far as Derry Lodge eases the effort required a little, but any climbs here will involve a very long day. This Area also includes the more accessible but still serious cliffs on the south side of the Loch A'an basin, notably Carn Etchachan and the magnificent Shelter Stone Crag, a stunning place to climb in winter.
