Rifugio Delfo E Agostino Coda - Dortoir La Gruba
Peaks/Cols Crossed:
⛰️ Col du Marmontana (2347m)
⛰️ Crenna di Ley (2312m)
This section of the route started with a challenging scramble off the mountain, which set the tone for the day. The route involved multiple scrambles over boulder fields and rocky areas, adding to the physical demands of the day. Despite my ongoing illness, I found myself moving at a good pace, feeling much better than I had for several legs. The overcast weather and gentle breeze provided a welcome change from the heat of previous days, allowing me to focus more on the technical aspects of the route. My climbing felt efficient, and I experienced moments of confidence and strength that had been elusive in earlier stages of the journey. The ascents to Col du Marmontana (2347m) and Crenna di Ley (2312m), although steep and challenging, were manageable, and I felt a sense of satisfaction as I navigated these sections with renewed energy. The descent was long and required careful attention, but the progress I made throughout this leg was encouraging.
Challenges:
Physical: Managing illness while tackling technical scrambles and boulder fields.
Mental: Maintaining focus and confidence in challenging terrain despite previous fatigue.
Terrain: Steep scrambles and rocky sections required careful navigation and energy management.
Navigation: Straightforward but required attention in boulder fields and rocky areas.
This leg was a turning point in my journey, as I felt a resurgence of energy and confidence despite the ongoing illness. The combination of technical terrain and improving physical condition made this section both challenging and rewarding. The ability to move efficiently and feel strong again boosted my morale and provided a much-needed mental and physical lift, reinforcing the importance of perseverance and adaptability in difficult conditions.
