Coaching 2 friends in navigation, they asked for a big day and got it! (In less than ideal weather)
Parking in Tanygrisiau, I briefed them saying I will only give them points and they need to tell me when we arrive. I will only tell them if they are correct if they can explain how they know they are correct. I gave easy introductory points along a PROW on the way up to Moel-yr-hydd via the road up to Llyn Stwlan reservoir. Once summited I started to give them smaller points, the amount of features from old mining operations gave plenty of options. We spent over 4 hours micro-navigating our way around the "messy" area on the 1:25000 map near Rhosydd Quarry. Once I thought they had been coached enough (and started to show signs of tiring), I shifted the focus to a journey. Asking them to take us to points along a journey over Moelwyn Mawr and Moelwyn Bach. Inbetween the clouds they have views of the reservoir below. After summiting Moelwyn Bach we returned to the parking via the base of the reservoir and down the road, nice easy finish for them both.

Moelwynion
The Moelwynion (a Welsh plural, sometimes anglicised to Moelwyns) are a group of mountains in central Snowdonia. They extend from the north-east of Porthmadog to Moel Siabod, the highest of the group. The name derives from the names of the two largest mountains in the group, Moelwyn Mawr (great white hill) and Moelwyn Bach (little white hill).
