Description

Walked out from Coniston museum and hand railed Church Beck to the bridge and turned left over the bridge to continue our journey to the summit of The Old Man of Coniston. I had a group of six.. basic intro to nav day covering, setting a map, bearings, timings, pacing, 4Ds and Flora and fauna. we came down from Levers Hawes to look at steep ground. where we looked at moving in steep ground and footwork.

Area : Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)

The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
