Description

Left Poolewe at noon to walk to Carnmore. Camped at an idyllic spot beside the causeway. Up at 05.30 to watch the lunar eclipse & away early to Ruadh Stac Mor & A'Mhaigdean. Met snow before the col & had some snowed up rocks going through the Torridonian crags (i wonder if there's a better line to the west. Put crampons on for the descent & used them up & down A'Mhaigdean. Superb views. Back to the tent before 2pm, pack up & walk out by 5.40.

Area : Loch Maree to Loch Broom and The Fannaichs

This area contains four main sub-regions: An Teallach, The Fannaichs, Kinlochewe & Letterewe. The highest Munro is Sgurr Mor, part of The Fannaichs range, at a height of 1110m. The impressive Slioch (981m), although not the tallest, is described by the SMC Munros Guide as being ‘one of the great sights of the Northern Highlands’ and well worth a visit. This area sits to the north of the A832 and is almost completely devoid of human habitation.
