Description

2 days with a friend I had previously taken trad climbing in Brean fort and he had lead 1 sev there. He has climbed 8a so a strong climber but little interest in trad. Day one I lead a route and he seconded then he lead boot crack, hvd. His gear placements are very good and he follows instructions very well. He finds the set up on the top confusing so I headed up to him to help. More of a walk up day. Day 2, we went straight to Left Unconcerable and I set up a top rope. He did a dummy lead placing gear and me advising from below. I top ropes it after him and looked at all of his gear, told him some improvements on 2 peace’s and put in one extra peace before the crux, I then got lowered and took the gear out in order for him. Next he lead it with just the required gear, the top rope had been pulled out of the way and I had put a fig 8 and screw gate on it and a gri gri near by in case it needed to be sent up quickly! The lead was text book and when I abbed down to get the gear out all was placed really well

Area : Peak District Grit: Stanage Edge

Simply the finest crag on grit with well over 1000 routes of all grades and styles. The most popular of climbing areas in the UK with a huge number of classic routes. We have split the area into the same divisions as used for UKC logbooks, namely Stanage Popular, Stanage Plantation and Stanage North. Bouldering activities should be entered into the 'Outdoor Bouldering' section of DLOG. Routes on other gritstone crags, such as Burbage North, should be added to the relevant Area as noted in the Area titles.
