Supposed to do arecce of a yr wydffa route for DofE but couldn’t find an area to park the van that I felt safe and out the way so drove back to Joe Browns and got ready to head out.
Headed up cefyn y capel to reach bwch goleuni and used my timings to estimate how long it would take. Spot on (which was nice) and only used contours and landmarks to help me with navigating the maze of hillocks. Really gratifying actually when I used these to accurately estimate my position and checked OS and I was absolutely spot on. A happy moment! Carried on and contoured around gallt. Really interesting rock features and I found myself comparing the Rhiollite with Gabbro and granite (all igneous) but slightly different formations. Ascended Y feel Foch, again correctly find my spot with contours and features and practiced triangulation on the plateau. I’m not a fan of those but actually when I tried it I was on,y about 20m off from my current location.
Had planned on camping above by Gasag Fraith but decided to carry on as I was a bit concerned on the increasing wind. I also came across SAR and MRT below on the miners path to Tryfan and decided to see if they needed help (could. Only see 1 of them who had been airdropped in). They were ok and I carried on to llyn bochlwyd and camped on a spit slightly snuffled away from the wind. Realised I had left my phone charger (cable only) in the van which was annoying and cut short my journey by a night and day. Camped out and wind grew but wasn’t too bad. In the morning I decamped and headed down to base of Tryfan and carried along the path until reaching the snowdonua skate trail. A really nice route, very relaxed, practic3d parts of nav but didn’t need much

Glyderau
The Glyderau (a Welsh plural form, also known in English as the Glyders) are a mountain group in Snowdonia, North Wales. The name derives from the highest peaks in the range, Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach. According to Sir Ifor Williams, the word "Glyder" derives from the Welsh word "Cludair", meaning a heap of stones.
