Description

Day on the moor East of Derwent Reservoir practicing micro-navigation. Visibility was good so actually rather unchallenging. However I did see 6 live and 2 dead mountain hares all still carrying vestiges of their winter coats which is for me a personal mountain hare record.

Area : Dark Peak

Is situated between Sheffield and Manchester. The underlying rock is Millstone grit which is often exposed at the edge of the higher peat bogs for which the area is famous.
