Myself and hubby. after failed attempts at this route due to weather in previous years, I had a score to settle!
perfect day, overcast, just enough wind to keep the midgies away, the summit of gillean was in the cloud.
the rock was dry and grippy, with old remaining snow patches deep in the gullies higher up.
scrambled the entire ridge un roped, only using the rope for the abseil from the third pinnacle.
climbed up through the hole to the summit, where we got a very brief inversion and the knights peak popped out.
we descended towards am basteir, abseiling down one of the chimneys, after waiting for a guide with her client to go ahead of us so we could take some photos for them.
completed the route and back to the car in roughly 9 hours, and that included a little shower in a waterfall!
