Description

Beautiful day scrambling on Siabod, although a little windy. Walked up from GMC hut, up steep track, past cottages to lake, explored old mining buildings, did a bit of timing and pacing. Scrambled ridge to summit then continued the scramble down other side of ridge and met the path again with a cross country hack on bearing to fence line. Beautiful full day with lots of playing with camera and on the rock and some nav practice.

Area : Moelwynion

The Moelwynion (a Welsh plural, sometimes anglicised to Moelwyns) are a group of mountains in central Snowdonia. They extend from the north-east of Porthmadog to Moel Siabod, the highest of the group. The name derives from the names of the two largest mountains in the group, Moelwyn Mawr (great white hill) and Moelwyn Bach (little white hill).
