Description

Area : Skye and the Western Isles (winter)

The effects of the Gulf Stream mean that winter climbing on the Western Isles is fickle, but on Syke especially the climbs are very highly sought after. The traverse of the Cuillin Ridge in winter is perhaps the finest, almost alpine, winter expedition in Scotland. In good conditions it provides an unforgettable experience. There are many other good winter climbs on Skye however, and when the ice forms they are becoming increasingly popular.
