Description

Left Cluanie Inn at 1400.
Plodded up up An Caorann Mor in rain, then snow. Became v boggy over the watershed. Some occasional views up to the black walls of Ciste Duibh.
Good to turn the corner and reach the Youth Hostel, closed but with an emergency room which I checked out.
Pushed on along River Affric.
Reached Athnamulloch where Justin had said there was a nice refurbed bothy. There wasn`t. There was a nice being refurbed bothy! Luckily there was another private bothy with the porch open. I bedded down there with everything I needed.
Snow and wind buffeted it during the night but I slept soundly.
At 9 the bothy builders arrived. I chatted to them. Hard men roofing in that weather. The bothy is owned by Trees for Life.
It was a dreary long plod along the lochs on tired legs. I started to fix on the welcome and the hot brew that waited me at Justin`s. It finally came just after 3.

Area : Glen Affric and Kintail

South of Loch Mullardoch you will find the Glen Affric and Kintail area whose southern boundary is the A87 road to Inverness. The Five Sisters of Kintail, Beinn Fhada, Sgurr nan Ceathreamhnan and Carn Eighe are just some of the impressive peaks in this area, and all have their own unique selling points such as remoteness, size, steepness or height. As a result, peaks in the list are all over 900m.
