Description

Long day - deep snow to get to the route, should have taken snow shoes or skis

Area : Northern Highlands North (winter)

The Northern Highlands North area includes everything north from the A835 Dingwall to Ullapool road, with the exception of the Ben Wyvis range, as described in the SMC guidebook of the same name. Perhaps surprisingly the majority of the climbing here is summer cragging, but there are also some extremely fine winter climbs, the most reliable of which are on Beinn Dearg. In a cold winter, the cliffs of Coigach and Assynt provide some exceptional winter adventures, while the winter opportunities offered by the mountains of the far north provide some rarely visited climbs.
