Went out to try and grab a QMD before my forthcoming assesment, but due to mostly the superb weather and dry conditions, it was decided just go and have a day in the hills. Parked at Seathwaite Farm, walked up to the summit via Styhead Tarn and the corridor route, had a quick dip in the small tarn just before Piers Gill and by the time we had got to the Summit and joined the other 50 odd people the clag came down and there was a few flakes of snow and the temperture dropped considerably. We headed back down via Broad Crag and Grains Gill.
one of my walking companions brought his dog Roy with him who is training to be a Search and Rescue dog for the North of Tyne MR team.
Area :
Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)
The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
