DESCRIPTION OF ROUTE:
Carn Dearg, Carn Sgulain & A`Chailleach Loop
Left the carpark at 8:30am and headed up into the glen, by the time we reached the little corrugated iron hut the wind and snow had arrived. We left the fantastic view of Newtonmore behind and started the boggy walk up to the summit of A` Chailleach. We reached the summit in good time and took much needed shelter behind the cairn while we planned the route ahead. At this point we where walking directly into the wind its was extremely hard to pick out features and from here on we where using bearings and pacing to help us navigate towards Carn Sgulain
And then across the plateau towards Carn Dearg. the long trek across the plateau from this peak to the others and with white out conditions at time gives a feeling of great space.
When we reached the summit of Carn Dearg the cloud had risen revealing fantastic views over the MonadhLiath and surrounding glens. The walk down into the glen was pleasant and reached the car 7hrs after we had left off.
