I have climbed in the UK for over 30 years and participated in Mountain Rescue for a large part of that time. I have served on Bolton Mountain Rescue Team and RAF Stafford MRT. My roles have included leading groups in mountainous terrain, teaching advanced crag rescue techniques, guiding people up rock routes and supervising climbing and abseiling sessions. Always looking to broaden my horizons, I have also worked as a secondary school Geography teacher throughout this time and have a great passion for performing music. My weekends are often spent playing piano on stage with my band. I have been on numerous expeditions in Europe, Africa and North America and enjoy winter mountaineering and skiing when I get the chance. As recognition of my contribution to outdoor education and fieldwork in schools, I was granted Fellowship of the Royal Geographical Society in 2008.
