Having grown up in the mountainous county of Kent I spent much of my childhood escaping to go camping and hiking throughout the UK and fortunate to alos get to the French Alps. On Joining the Air Training Corps (ATC) I found my love for the outdoors fuelled through Duke of Edinburgh Award and adventurous training weekends, I later went onto become an Adventure Training Instructor with DofE Expedition groups for the ATC.
I hold the Summer, Winter and International Mountain Leader and Rock Climbing Instructor Awards. I am constantly seeking out opportunities to work in new environments that I love. I am comfortable with all ability levels and group sizes and really enjoy teaching new skills to others. I have a range of expedition experience, with adult and youth teams, in Peru, Borneo, Tanzania, Alaska, Morocco, China, Nepal and Patagonia, as well as many European locatios as well. Whemn planning I prioritise organisation and safety – with some bad jokes thrown in for good measure! I am also full volunteer member of Llanberis Mountain Rescue team and active British Association of International Mountain Leaders (BAIML) representative with Mountain Training Cymru.
I am the co-founder and director for RAW Adventures which has been operating since 2010 and has a small but dedicated team based in North Wales helping to introduce people to the adventures they can have in the great outdoors. I am a firm believer in making ideas happen and can regularly be found tapping up contacts for my latest projects. I have contributed previously to Trek & Mountain, Trail, UK Hillwalking and Summit magazine with knowledge articles and gear tests, as well as assisting in early product development with Jöttnar. On the 8th day of the week, i’ll be working on the latest recce project for a client!
