My family were keen walkers, most weekends you could find us in the Peak District or further afield.
Aged 16 I got into climbing and I still climb to this day although my grade is a great deal lower than it was.
My walking has continued into adult life and I have done the Yorkshire Three Peaks at least 15 times and I’ve been on Kinder Scout at least 30 times! I completed the Pennine Challenge (The first 60 miles of the Pennine Way in 24 hrs) and I have completed a number of mountain marathons including OMM and Saunders. I am still a keen runner taking part in fell races around the country. I love nothing more than walking over a few days and either wild camping or utilising a bothy.
I have walked in many UK mountain areas including the Lakes, Snowdonia, Scottish Highlands, Black Mountains, Peak District, Dartmoor etc. and for the past 4 years I have run weekend navigation workshops for groups. I have also managed groups of young people in locations such as Pen-y-fan, Cheddar, Peak District, The Lakes etc.
I have also trekked internationally having completed the Annapurna and Machupuchre Base Camps in the Nepalise Himalayas, the Tongariro Crossing in New Zealand, and numerous Alpine treks in Europe.
I have climbed Mont Blanc and a few lesser peaks in the Chamonix area as well as climbed in the Chamonix valley. I am still a keen winter climber, having been to Scotland on many occasions climbing in the Highlands, including Ben Nevis (North Face), the Cairngorms and Aonach Mor.
