Originally from Essex, first career was in the media and lived and worked in London for several years working on TV, film and some music productions. After a few years left to travel/work abroad. Spent a year in Australia followed by a year in South East Asia. Whilst working for a dive shop in Thailand as a divemaster I got into sport climbing in Krabi.
Returned to the UK for a short while to raise some funds to then continue travelling. In 2000 I went to East Africa and worked on a diving research project in Tanzania. Spent time when off the project to travel through Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia.
Returned to the UK and worked for an Essex based Dive Shop and enrolled onto a p/t degree in Business and Media. Stuck at this for a few years then headed to New Zealand for a year where pursue alpine and mountaineering objectives. Obtained the 'rock 1' level with NZOIA (New Zealand Outdoor Instructors Award) whilst working for Wanaka Rock and Base Camp Wanaka in 2006/7 where I was Involved in many aspects of climbing instruction and tuition. An injury forced my exit from NZ before my visa expired and returned to the UK.
Completed the degree, then moved to Scotland in 2010. Worked as a support diver and offshore safety trainer until redundancy in 2015. Have been an instructor in various roles for over 15 years and hold a nationally recognised certificate in assessment methods. Instructed open water scuba diving, sea survival skills, basic first aid, fire fighting and small boat handling to name a few.
Went to Patagonia in February 2016 to climb in Fitz Roy group area and led an expedition to Cambodia for a school group in July for 1 month for Camps International. Currently freelance in Outdoor Education for Aberdeen City Council. Recently (April 2016) completed a Swift Water Rescue Technician course and have current First Aid at Work certificate and Outdoor First Aid valid also in 2016.
