Steve holds the prestigious International Mountain Leader Award and also the Summer and Winter Mountain Leader Awards. He is a full member of the British Mountaineering Council, the Mountain Training Association and the British Association of International Mountain Leaders. He is an adviser to Mountain Training UK.
Steve has extensive travel experience in over thirty five countries on six continents. Included in this is a broad experience of world travel, mountaineering, trekking, rafting and expeditions including; multiple acsents of Kilimanjaro and Elbrus; the mountains, jungles and rivers of Ecuador, Laos, Vietnam and Borneo; the Himalayas in India and Nepal; the mountains and rivers of Southern Peru and Kenya and the deserts and rivers of Botswana and Namibia.
Working with his own clients and outdoor adventure companies Steve takes groups of adults and children on adventurous journeys throughout the world. He has mentored several people through their Mountain Leader award and has excellent inter-personal and communication skills relating easily with people of all ages and backgrounds.
He has trained at, and been assessed by, Britain’s National Mountain Centres who are world class in the instruction and coaching of mountaineering professionals.
Steve is also a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Accredited Expedition Assessor assessing DofE Expeditions up to and including the Gold Award level.
He has a Rescue Emergency Care (REC) first aid certificate, a Wilderness Medical Training (WMT) Far from Help parts 1 & 2 (Advanced Medicine) certificate, WEMSI Wilderness First Responder and WIlderness Emergency Medical Technician certificates, an Enhanced CRB disclosure, Disclosure Scotland and his own civil liability insurance.
His other interests include photography, food and wine.
