I ended up working in the outdoor industry thanks to an exchange year in the northernmost University in the world, Tromso, Arctic Norway. I fell in love with the arctic remote landscape and, after finishing my studies, decided to move to Finland's remote NP's in the far North, a harsh but absolutely stunning environment. As I was part of a local family at that time, I learnt much about their self sufficient (Sami) way of life and spent much time on skis exploring the area. I worked locally, first as a tour guide for Lapland Safaris and later as a dogsledding guide at Hetta Huskies for 4 years.
I realised I loved working in the outdoor industry and started considering an outdoor career. A fast track Instructor course in Dartmoor was followed by the Centre Assistant scheme at Plas Y Brenin in 2011-2012. Since then I have been working freelance in the UK and internationally. In the last 5 years I have lived both in North Wales and the Alps where I have been working as an IML in the summer and enjoying the ski touring in the winter. Most of all I love my work as an IML. Expeditions, travelling and trekking (anything with a journey!) in beautiful places, has always been my passion. I recently moved to the Cairngorms in Scotland.
