We are located in the north east corner of England as close to the English/Scottish border as it's possible to get. Our walks explore the Northumberland Coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Northumberland National Park and its Cheviot Hills and the countryside between the two. Northumberland like many parts of the UK, has something to offer every day of the year, so we provide a guided walk every day of the year.
On a Footsteps guided walk, we are looking out for wildlife and wildflowers and sharing stories about the landscape and the people who shaped and continue to shape this remarkable place.
I hold the Hill and Moorland Leader Award, which I gained at Plas y Brenin in 2011. I also teach 1-day map and compass skills, which can be booked online via my Footsteps in Northumberland website.
I have many years of experience leading guided walks in different areas of England and Wales. In addition, I am a leader for HF Holidays in the UK. I am available as a freelance guide and I lead walking holidays along Hadrian's Wall Path National Trail for Shepherd's Walks Holidays. I have led holidays for Country Walks in Northumberland and in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. I lead guided walking holidays in Northumberland for Just You Holidays and I have led and organised day walks for corporate clients such as Berghaus.

We established our own guided walks business in Northumberland in 2011. We are Footsteps in Northumberland and it is fair to say that the Hill and Moorland Leader (HML) Award underpins our day to day activities as we lead guided walks here in Northumberland and in other parts of the UK too. The Award has given confidence to people who employ me and the freelance work I do on a business to business basis, has certainly increased since we began in 2011. In addition, I deliver the Mountain Training Hill Skills courses, again without the HML Award, it would have been a business opportunity closed to us. So my recommendation is, get a Mountain Training Award, it is a passport to new places and business.
