My initial interest in the outdoors started when I undertook the much maligned '3 Peaks' charity challenge then became involved in the outdoors in my role as a youth worker. Did the old BELA award and got involved with a group of climbers who did the Welsh 3,000 and numerous other mountain walks in Snowdonia and Scotland. More international treks followed in Peru, Tanzania, China and Nepal.
Took over role as Duke of Edinburgh Award Development Officer with a local authority in North Wales so managed to get even more time 'on the hill' as part of my job !
After a lengthy consolidation period following my ML training, did my HML assessment as a stepping stone in 2014 and then passed my ML(S) in 2015.
Now looking at developing my experience further through CPD with MTA and leading groups and individuals in the UK and abroad during 2017.
Led a 21 expedition in Malawi for Outlook Expeditions in 2018 and following the Covid break, took another group to Morocco for 14 days in 2023 and in 2024 led another group to Vietnam and Cambodia for 21 days again with Outlook.
Took early 'retirement' in 2022 and moved in 2023 from Flintshire to Gwynedd.
Continued working as a Freelance Instructor across the UK for AAP's, Lupine Adventure and Wildside Expeditions.
