I originally started climbing as a cub / scout (about 10) where my local district camp site had a climbing wall, I only took part in climbing activities as a scout. I was lucky enough to go on some caving trips where climbing and abseiling within the cave was required, we also had a small trip and chance to climb outside on real rock. I left the scouts at the age of 18 where I stopped climbing & post moving on from scouts I didn’t climb again until I was in my 20s (I returned as a leader in summer 2006). I became a keen climber and decided that I would join a club and worked towards my RCI.

I passed my RCI back in 2013 (it was the Single Pitch Award back – AKA SPA back then), and post that have delivered a number of varied climbing sessions and training for people across the UK. but my location of choice is the peak district.

i am a scout leader, and also a scout climbing permit assessor who is keen that young people and there leaders get to experience climbing out on real rock.
