Since starting climbing in University in 2005 and learning the basic skills to climb in the Mournes and Fairhead, I've always enjoyed helping others develop their skills to be able to climb independently on the amazing crags on our doorstep. In 2013 I spent a year at Tollymore National Outdoor Centre and developed my instructional skills through the Mountain Training awards up to the Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor, qualifying in 2015. During that year I met, learned from and climbed with a group of highly experienced, skilled and passionate instructors who provided a high benchmark of instruction quality. Now, after 20 years of personal rock climbing and 10 years working professionally in mountaineering and other outdoor sports, I can really see and understand the benefit of the mountain training awards. I love having them and continue to develop my personal climbing and professional instructional skills to continue to help others reach their full potential in the sport.
