Stephen has been attracted to wild terrain since scrambling up Grindsbrook Clough in the Peaks as a boy while on family holidays. He eventually escaped the flatlands of Suffolk to study in Bangor, where for some reason he chose rowing instead of mountaineering. He returned to North Wales in 1995, and tried to stay, when work took him away again in 1998.
Stephen finally committed fully to North Wales and the outdoors in 2012, learning to climb trad in 2013 and gaining his Mountain Leader qualification in November 2014 and SPA in 2015. Stephen enjoys a steady amble in still conditions as much as going out in foul weather and high winds; and sometimes reaching the top the difficult way (scrambles and classic trad routes preferred). Stephen's passion for sharing skills and knowledge are matched only by his enthusiasm in seeing someone else fully enjoy his favourite area of Britain.
Stephen is a confident, competent, highly experienced mountain walker, scrambler and rock climber. His excellent leadership skills are invaluable along with his ability to relate to groups of all ages, abilities and from all walks of life, ensuring their safety without compromising their enjoyment of the outdoors.
