Hi, there.
I’ve been hill walking since the late 1970s, and I became a Mountain Leader in 2014. I'm chatty, suportive, and full of enthusiasm.
In 2015 and 2016 I had very busy summers, working for five outdoor activity companies (including Charity Challenge and RAW Adventures), mostly on charity sponsored walks. I’ve worked on Ben Nevis, in the Lakes, in Yorkshire, and in Snowdonia, in pleasant weather and foul weather, by day and by night. My D-LOG is pretty-much up to date, but there is a full and up-to-date description of my outdoor activities at www.brendanoutdoors.blogspot.com.
In 2017 I am hoping to do more work like this again, and also get into guiding private groups and indiduals.
New for me in 2016 was working as a DofE supervisor: I have worked for three different organisations on six practice expeditions, at Bronze and Silver levels: I am hoping to do more work like this again in 2017.
I do my best work with people who need a bit of extra support, perhaps because they are unsure of themselves in an unfamiliar environment, or because they are struggling physically. I am very enthusiastic about mountain walking (personally and professionally), and this enthusiasm rubs off on the people I take walking. Also, I just want you to have a safe, enjoyable and fulfilling experience in the mountains. I am not interested on pushing you to achieve arbitrary targets, and I won't march you around in misery from peak to peak. I am the strong chatty type (not the strong silent type): if that fits the bill, give me a call.
