Highlands based MCI and WML
Aidan is a Profesional, hard working member of the Brenscombe outdoor centre instructional staff. His ambition and determination is a real asset to Him. Having climbed and worked with Aidan, i can say that i would happily let him take out any group of ours. to the wall or crag. Aidan has the ability to build a fantastic rapport with his clients. Having worked with Aidan in a professional context and climbed with him regularly I can state that he is a competent climber and a excellent instructor when working with groups. I have supervised many sessions with Aidan acting as an assistant and he has a natural abilty to both entuse the client and instruct in a safe mannor. His communication with groups is clear and precise, and he possesses all the key 'hard' skills required for the Single Pitch Award.

I have climbed with Aidan in numerous climbing areas of Scotland. Safely Lead climbing up to E1 5a Aidan has shown he is more than capable of leading the required VS 4C. We have also completed scrambles in Glen Coe which he has demonstrated he is competent at looking after him self in a safe manner. Further more I have observed many climbing sessions in the ice factor climbing wall all of which have been both safe and engaging. All together I believe Aidan to be a competent climber of whom satisfies the level for MCI training.

I worked with Aidan for two years as his colleague and senior instructor at the Ice Factor. In terms of personal climbing I have seen Aidan lead VS very comfortably both on single pitch routes at Poll Dubh and on Multi pitch in Glencoe. His climbing has definitely come on significantly in the last 2 years and he has had a lot of technical input from myself and the Ice Factor technical advisor Pete Hyde (WMCI) he has also benefited from multiple staff training days with Alan Halewood looking at developing the skills required for becoming a MCI. Aidan has developed a large amount of experience coaching on rock indoors and outdoors with Ice Factor development squads and outdoors actively using his RCI on outdoor climbing courses. I think he would be a very solid candidate for MCI training.

Aidan is very competent instructor; very safety conscious, conscientious and with good interpersonal skills. I have worked with him for over two years and have always been impressed by his calm, patient and helpful manner with a wide variety of clients. He is self-motivated in his own personal development and enthusiastic about getting out and extending his personal experience. I am confident he will make a sound and professional Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor and am happy to recommend him to the scheme.

Aidan has been part of the Skye Guides team for the past 2 seasons. He worked hard to learn the ridge and develop the skills needed to work in the Cuillin. He is an extremely professional and reliable colleague with excellent planning, organisational and communication skills. Aidan is able to create challenging days for his clients using a flexible approach and dynamic risk assessment to make the most of conditions on the day. He ensures that skill progression and learning are tailored to the clients' needs. Aidan is motivated, enthusiastic and often goes above and beyond. I have also climbed mountain routes on Skye with Aidan. He is a safe, reliable, encouraging climbing partner and also great company to be out with. I know that he will be very conscientious in his approach to becoming an excellent WMCI.
