My love for adventure and the mountains started as a young boy when on a family holiday to the lake District, i remember exploring The Bishop of Barf and the Lords Seat. Growing up in a rural location i would happily disappear on micro adventures around the local fields and woodlands, parents often wondering what i was up to.
At the age of 16 i joined the Army which proved to be an adventure in its own right, serving 22 years I've had my fair share of travelling with many operations to boot. I now serve as an Army Reservist, this give me the fantastic opportunity to use my mountaineering and climbing qualifications across the UK and world wide.
I've lead climbing trips to Wadi Rum Jordan pretty scary climbing but an awesome location. My favourite climbing would have to be sea cliffs i love the whole ambience, Lundy Island is my favourite with Pembroke coast a close second. I've lead groups across some of the remotest mountain areas in the UK , if i were to chose a favourite area it would be the Scottish Highlands you can walk for days and not see another person. Snowdonia would be my second favourite i'm particularly fond of the Carneddau mountain range.
To date I have been lucky to spend an cumulative total of 14 weeks in the Italian Dolomites working as a Joint Services Mountain Leader leading groups across some of the most scenic routes in the world. The highlight of my Dolomites trekking has to be the guiding a group along the famous 150 Km Alta Via 1 over 9 days.
Holding the Joint Services Alpine Klettersteig Leaders qualification i have been lucky to lead groups on Kletterstige/ Via Farratas routes in Bavaria, Austria and the Italian Dolomites. This is normally the preserve of IFMGA Guides.
Whilst in the Dolomites i have had some of the most memorable times in the mountains, climbing some cool routes with good friends.
