I have been climbing and mountaineering for 40 years and as I recently retired from 'working', decided to return to this great pleasure of mine - taking folks climbing. Previously I have worked in a range of outdoor settings in Scotland and northern England from management training centres, skills training, private guiding, outdoor centres and teaching geography both in and outwith the classroom.
Over the years, I have climbed throughout Britain and western Europe with occasional forays to north America, Africa and a family trekking trip to Nepal when our three children were around 12yrs old - twins then a third 22 months later! But, at home, whatever the season, I hear myself saying 'this is the best season, my favourite'! And it's true, the hills, mountains and crags of Britain have so much to offer year round. They're accessible, steeped in climbing history, beautiful, varied and they're ours to enjoy and protect. How lucky are we to have them!
