For me, the mountains of Scotland offer that simple but magical combination of wonderfully clean air, majestic surroundings and an invigorating workout for body and mind. At every stage of my life, the mountains have drawn me to them and offered me something different. I am endlessly fascinated by the plants, animals and birds that make their home in the mountains and I love learning something new every time I head for the high tops.

I qualified as a Mountain Leader in May 2019, which enables me to lead groups in remote or mountainous country all year round, except when snow and ice prevail. I have over 30 years experience of walking and wild camping in the Scottish mountains, both in summer and winter conditions. I have made occasional forays into mountainous areas in Argentina, Wales, England, Ireland and Spain. Since 2024 I have co-ordinated and led hill walks with my local Scout troop in Falkirk, including running short training sessions in advance of the walks.
Access to my online logbook of mountain experience (my Mountain Training Association’s Digital Logbook) can be provided on request.
In addition to mountain walking and wild camping, I love scrambling, rock climbing, sailing and kayaking.
