I used to run ML courses and ran SPA, WGL and LLA courses when they started. From the CMS statistics I apparently assessed over 200 candidates for various schemes and probably trained 3x that number. Hopefully at least some of them remember some of what I taught them doing various types of work in the outdoors! As a freelance outdoor education person I see and do a wide variety of activities with lots of different age groups. Currently work ranges from inspecting outdoor providers for the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge, to supervising SEN students teaching P3 pupils to plant daffodills in the local park, both equally challenging. 1959 - tobogganed into a gorse thicket in the New Forest, rescued by my granny.
1969 - tobogganed into a barbed wire fence with 6 mates on Winchester golf course, broke fence with feet.
1979 - climbed Point 5 with Jon Conville, 'mentored' by Al Kimber.
1989 - directed my first ML course (possibly not the most important moment of the decade).
1999 - Lubiyanka (the climb not the prison) with Tim Jepson.
2009 - commented on ice climbing web blogs saying 'we did that years ago'.
2019 - cycling round the New Forest, probably achieved 'old fart' status?
