Embroiled in Sport & Adventure, to National & International Level in a number of sports: Triathlon, Surf Kayaking, Trampolining, White Water Rafting & Climbing; I’m the most qualified Kayak Coach in the British Canoeing scheme; with 3 Level 5’s in White-Water, Sea & Surf Kayak along with the highest assessor grades.
Not “just a boater” I’m an MIC & IML, a BASI L2 & Triathlon Coach. I hold a Degree in Sport Science, Sport Psychology & Coaching & a PGCE in Physical Education.
My company, Acwa-Terra, specialises in Adventure Consultancy & Technical Advice in Mountaineering, Climbing, Canoesport, Surfing, SUP, Coasteering & Gorge Walking to organisations across the UK, Europe & Asia.
I still keep it real, coaching & personal training athletes in Triathlon & Open Water Swimming as well as the other activities of Acwa-Terra. I’ve had various roles in 30 years, providing vast experience & knowledge to draw upon including Senior Instructor, Lecturer, Operations Manager, Coach Development & Educator, Quality Assurance, National Trainer, Associate & Expedition Leader.
I’m a supported Surf & Sea Kayaker, a Patagonia, Black Diamond, Palm Equipment & System-X ‘Pro’.
Unusual facts: I once ranked 10th in World Bog-Snorkeling Championships; circumnavigated Andorra solo on ski; first person to swim to the Skerries off Anglesey; made a Ski ascent of Elbrus & I’m the only person to have skied the Welsh 14 peaks in a day; I’m also a helicopter pilot.
When not helping other folks develop their careers, I’ll be adventuring somewhere, either near home, with my partner & daughter in Snowdonia or in some other equally exotic spot around the globe, notching to date experience & adventures in over 30 countries Worldwide.

Having been involved with Mountain Training awards since I was 19 as a Trainee, they have always been held in high regard in my mind for the instructor and leader to be involved with. They have industry value and respect and content developed from experience.
I've put the work in over the years into gaining the experience that would allow me to confirm my abilities against the Single Pitch Award, the Mountain Leadership Awards of both summer and winter and the Mountaineering Instructor Award and Certificates. All of these awards have given me the opportunity to work with amazing people, showing them the beauty and adventure of the British Outdoors.
I'm now lucky enough to be able to help train the next generation and provide some of these awards to others so that they may begin or continue their careers in the Adventure Industry.
