I am based in Leeds and hold the Mountain Leader (Summer) and Mountain Leader (Winter) awards as well as the Rock Climbing Instructor Award for single pitch rock climbing instruction.
I am a founder member of Lupine Adventure Co-operative. Through the Co-op I hold an AALA license for working with young people. It is a legal requirement to hold an AALA license if working with young people on adventurous activities in remote situations (i.e. up mountains or outdoor rock climbing) if their parents are not present. The highly experienced outdoor professionals at AALS check all our procedures and inspect how we operate in the outdoors annually.
I am a Duke of Edinburgh's Award Assessor at Gold level. Indeed much of my work is DofE supervision and assessing but I also find myself on Yorkshire 3 peaks charity walks, rock climbing sessions (indoor and outdoor), Gill (Ghyll) scrambling, navigation training courses and walking holidays.
I also work a day a week at The University of Leeds on one of their discovery modules teaching and coaching rock climbing skills to a group of students each year.
I work most of the time in the Lake District (Cumbria), Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District but usually get to work in Snowdonia, The Highlands of Scotland and Northumberland most years.
