I am an adept leader with various instructional, developmental and teaching experiences. I am excellent at managing and facilitating learning in people and have a positive approach to life with a strong duty of care.
Rob is one of the full time instructional staff at Hothersall Lodge. He has been in post for just over 6 months now and has in his realtively short time with us been instrumental in introducing a much needed enthusiasm and commitment to the climbing elements of what we undertake at Hothersall. He is extremely well motivated to improve all aspects of our climbing delivery ... instuctional and stores side. He has also recently undertaken MIA training and taking the climbing wall leader endorsement will be a great intermeadiate step for Rob as he prepares for his MIA assessment. I full endorse his suitability for this level of course.

Relationship
I have had the pleasure of Rob's company on a professional and a personal basis many times over the last couple of years. As a work colleague, I have been present when he has been in charge of climbing, biking and canoeing sessions, both centre based and externally, and have always been impressed with his enthusiasm and professionalism. The feedback from clients has always been very positive. On a personal level we have shared activities together in the mountains, in summer and winter and have always found he is enthusiastic in his approach to outdoor activities, and his professional approach to each activity instills a feeling of confidence. His thorough approach to the planning of the activity ensures that there is a margin of safety, whilst still keeping the adventure element, which in my opinion is very important in today's risk averse approach to the outdoors. I have every confidence in Rob as a mountain leader and instructor. I have been involved in the outdoors for over 36 years as a participant and a leader/ instructor, and I can say that Rob is one of the most competent, confidence inspiring and pleasant persons I have had the fortune to know in the outdoor environment. I have no hesitation in endorsing Rob as a suitable candidate for the winter mountain leader award.

Rob is an excellent all-round instructor and outdoor education teacher. He is conscientious and focused in his work, and takes a very thorough approach to his preparation and planning. In the mountains and on the crags he is efficient and organised, and always attentive to safety factors. I can thoroughly recommend Rob, and I'm convinced he'll make an excellent Climbing and Mountaineering Instructor.
