Background:
After leaving the army, I was employed by Manchester Education as a Child Care officer. One of my roles was Instructing Mountaineering, Caving and rock climbing, with children who had emotional difficulties. It was a rewarding and challenging role :)
In 1995 I joined the Police service. Due to my previous occupation and ML qualifications, I was involved in taking recruits and other officers mountaineering around the UK to help improve teamwork and self confidence under arduous conditions.
Later in my career I worked alongside the military and other agencies conducting specialist mountain training on a regular basis all around the UK.
Mountaineering experience:
I have climbed and mountaineered extensively throughout the UK in both summer and winter (don't you just love Scottish winter ? mostly)
I have climbed over 40 4000m alpine peaks in the last 25 years, including Mt Blanc by various routes, Aiguille Verte, Mont Dolent, Dufourspitze, Weismeiss and the Dom etc.
Ski touring is also another interest and i have toured in both Scotland and the Alps :)
Other interests:
I used cave and dive regularly and was a member of the CDG (cave diving group) and a member of the Cave Rescue Organisation as a cave rescue diver.
I have ran numerous triathlons including olympic and ironman distance.
