I have been instructing for 25 years and am based in the Lake District. I am Head of Centre at Ghyll Head Outdoor Centre near Windermere. I freelance as a Mountain Instructor and love spending time in the mountains with my friends and family. I am the course director for Mountain Training and deliver hill skills/mountain skills, summer ML training and assessment courses. My passion for the outdoors started with family walks as a child and completing the DofE. Ghyll Head is an AAP and can deliver the expedition part of the award scheme. Personally I love journeying; whether in a sea kayak or ski touring and my enjoyment for climbing continues, especially in the mountains and the Alps is a favourite. Teaching folks to become more independent in the mountains is so rewarding; imparting the skills and supporting their journey to become confident decision-makers is really satisfying and I just love helping people with that in mind.

I have worked in outdoor education for over 20 years. I started life as a teacher in S Wales and preferred to be on the water boating, then moved up to the lakes and into outdoor education and fell in love with the crags and fells! I started working on the mountain training scheme in the late 90's.
I share the Head of Centre role at Ghyll Head Outdoor Centre on Windermere, Cumbria. The centre has been open for 50 years and has an AALS license. I am a technical advisor for open canoeing and mountaineering.
I have a real passion for mountaineering and ski touring in particular. Over the years I have travelled extensively to paddle, climb and ski. These days I head to the Alps or Scotland for short bursts, it fits better with family life! I hold the MIA and winter ML and a range of paddlesport qualifications
I love working on the mountain training scheme and am happiest out on the fells :-)
