Because It's There Adventures is the outdoor education division of the company www.bitadventures.co.uk. I have been personally active in outdoors since participating in an outward bound course in the early 1980s. I planned and led my DofE Gold Award expedition which took place in Iceland. For many years I trained DofE groups but had to give this up when my employment took to to many parts of the UK and some places overseas to deliver training. I've now taken voluntary early retirement and am getting much more involved with the things I enjoyed before the pressures of full time employment curtailed my active involvement. I'm a ML (S) with winter training, Gold DofE Award Assessor, CWA + AM and SPA training. I've registered as a DofE Expedition Approved Activity Provider and have a Adventure Activity Licencing Scheme Licence for Wild Country expeditions, climbing and abseiling. I'll extend this kayaking once I regain accreditation. I also run the National Navigation Award Scheme's Bronze and Silver Navigator Awards and the Countryside Leader Award.
