A one day workshop designed to build up your confidence in contour interpretation at your own pace. No gimmicks, nothing fancy, lots of walking, most up and down, steep slopes, gentle slopes and break of slope points all explored, re-entrants and ridges unravelled.
If you need a boost, if you’re not quite sure, if you are not completely contour confident join me and we’ll work through, in a practical manner, on the hill until you are happy (or you’ve had enough!).
The workshop has been developed on the back of 14 years teaching navigation in schools, both in the classroom and on the hill. Followed by 16 years of teaching navigation from beginner level to MIA level whilst working at Plas y Brenin the Outdoor National Centre.
We’ll be on the hill all day, so be prepared for hillwalking, bring OS Explorer Sheet 17 and your lunch.
By the end of the day you’ll be much more confident in your ability to read contours, to work map from ground, from ground to map and you be able to visualise slope angles; you’ll be contour confident.
