Emergency Ropework for IMLs
A chance to practice, reflect and refresh on all things ‘emergency ropework’ as an IML. Bring along your questions, stories and enthusiasm to spend the day doing ropework outside. Topics and themes will depend on those booking onto the workshops but may include: rope choice, waist belays, use of an italian hitch, direct belays, handlines, use of fixed equipment winterising our ropework, attaching clients to ropes, and more.
An opportunity to refresh rope work skills and look at current good practice. This will be a practical workshop so be prepared to be outdoors and active.
Providers
Iona Pawson and Helen Teasdale, both IMLs, Iona and Helen work on the IML training and assessment courses in Summer and Winter, for Plas Y Brenin. They have both led trips overseas, completed various personal expeditions and used ropes personally and professionally in a variety of places and situations around the world.
Please bring: Warm and waterproof clothing, gloves, hill walking rucksack, food and water, personal medication (Essentially whatever you need to be warm and dry on the hill in November). Note that we will be relatively stationary during the day due to the nature of doing lots
of ropework in a small area. Mountaineering / Climbing helmet (if you have your own). We will provide helmets, ropes, slings and carabiners.
