WORKSHOP CONTENT & LEARNING OUTCOMES
During the workshop you will delve into the formation of the Lake District landscape as we see it today, looking how glaciation has created the shape of our favourite National Park since the end of the great mountain building processes. You'll learn about more modern earth-changing processes too, including the formation of the Haweswater Reservoir and how land owners and environmental charities are now managing this landscape.

Sharon Kennedy is an experienced full time freelance Mountain Leader. She works as staff on Mountain Leader training and assessment courses for Graham Uney Mountaineering. Sharon is a Hill & Mountain Skills Tutor.
Prior to working as an outdoor instructor Sharon worked for the Environment Agency for 20 years, most recently as the Area Environment Manager for Cumbria leading on projects involving regulation of water resources; ensuring the environment is protected whilst water supply to the northwest is maintained, as well as landscape restoration projects such as upland regeneration and river restoration with partner organisations within the National Park.
Sharon has a geography degree with particular interest in glaciation and post glacial landscape formation, hydrology and geomorphology.
Sharon is also Deputy Leader of Penrith Mountain Rescue Team.
