Course content This workshop will explore how to deliver effective climbing movement/technique sessions on the boulders and in bottom rope environments. Floor/boulder based movement and technique sessions which will explore a whole range of rock based movement/techniques likely to be encountered by beginners and intermediate climbers including: Warming up Spotting and the use of mats Weight transfer/rock over's Footwork Body position Planning Resting Use of handholds including jamming Mantling Bridging Chimneying Laybacking Route based movement and technique sessions which will explore how to choose the right routes in order to provide progression from the boulder based activities |
Equipment required You will need to bring a rigging rack, rigging and dynamic ropes, harness, helmet, shoes and a bouldering matt. We'll share kit between us and I've got plenty of spares. Please let me know if you need anything specific. Trainers qualifications / credentials and experience |

Dan is an experienced and currently active climber. I'm also a provider of the RCI/RCDI/CWI/CWDI and a course director for the Coaching scheme. I’ve delivered over 650 mountain training courses. The majority of my work involves coaching climbing technique and movement alongside other techniques: belaying, anchor building, lead climbing skills etc.
Becca Lounds RCDI Dev coach PGCE
Becca is an experienced and active climber. She has been coaching climbing for over 12 years, focusing on movement, technique and mindfulness . Being based in Sheffield means that she has an excellent knowledge of the Peak boulders and routes. Becca regularly delivers outdoor bouldering and route climbing sessions to beginners and improvers of all ages. I like to focus on pushing yourself in a fun and safe environment.
