Avalanche Avoidance - A day on the hill with an SAIS forecaster
Only open to participants from the one-day Chris Walker Memorial Trust online webinars that were held in autumn 2023 and November/December 2024.
Participants should have attended Winter ML Training and be competent in the use of axe and crampon use in Scottish conditions.
Rough outline of day:
09:15 Meet at venue
09:15 - 10:15 Indoors: preparation, planning, etc.
10:15 - 14:30 On the hill
14:30 - 16:00 Indoors: discussions.
16:00 Depart
The day will concentrate on planning, observations and processes in practice, with input from an avalanche forecaster. Days will be based at Creag Meagaidh depending on the conditions.
6 spaces max.
