Award Description

This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on single pitch crags and climbing walls. Common activities undertaken by Rock Climbing Instructor will be roped climbing and bouldering. This scheme does not include the skills and techniques required to teach lead climbing.

Rock Climbing Instructor Training Course

This qualification is all about taking people climbing and abseiling on single pitch crags and artificial structures. Whether you're a parent, a volunteer or an outdoor centre instructor, the Rock Climbing Instructor qualification trains and assesses experienced rock climbers to instruct climbing.

This 3 day full course is for aspirant instructors of all things climbing. We will spend the first day in the wall environment and the following 2 outside on the suitable crags.

The course is provided by Dave Brown, a highly experienced, knowledgeable climbing enthusiast, MIC (WMCI) and Mountain Training Schemes trainer/assessor with 25 years experience of training and assessing other instructors in safe, enjoyable, learning environments.

Our aim is to help you deliver climbing and abseiling sessions by learning the techniques and tactics to look after others.

This course will be conducted mainly outdoors with the indoor element conducted at a local climbing wall.
