WORKSHOP CONTENT & LEARNING OUTCOMES
We will meet at the National Trust car park at Great Wood, Borrowdale. This location is accessible by bus from Keswick. Our plan is to take in as many habitats as possible during the day, so from the car park we will walk down to the shore of Derwent Water and then head up through Great Wood, along Cat Gill, up into the moorland terrain above, through sheep grazed former woodland and then explore bog and heathland on the open fell. Time permitting, we plan on ascending to either the summit of Walla Crag or Bleaberry Fell.
We hope this workshop will be useful for ML trainees who want to gain more confidence for the plant ID and natural history aspect of their assessment, and for those who simply want to improve their knowledge of the environment they love. If you already have a good knowledge of plants and want to share a day with others who love the wild flora of the Lake District then you are most welcome as well.
