Ropes and Rack- staying safe at the crag
This workshop is designed for anyone that is keen to learn more about how to stay safe at the crag. The day will focus on top roping and will cover topics such as building belays, route selection, movement, abseiling and dealing with simple problems.
This day is ideal for beginner climbers, scramblers, SPA trainees looking refresh some of their personal skills before assessment , CWA trainees or award holders looking to move outdoors and improve their personal safety on crags, or SPA award holders simply looking for a refresher day in crag safety.
Workshop provider:
Samantha Leary is a highly experienced Mountaineering Instructor Certificate (MIC) Holder with a wealth of climbing experience. She runs her own outdoor pursuits business while also working as a freelance instructor for the two National Mountain Centres in Scotland, England and Wales; Glenmore Lodge and Plas Y Brenin.
Equipment:
Please bring food and drink for the day and appropriate clothing for late Autumn in Wales, ie full waterproof jacket and trousers, warm clothes, hats and gloves.
A harness, helmet and rock shoes - if you don't have access to climbing kit please get in touch early as she may be able to help with that.
