This Workshop is for Full AMI members only. It will cover the role of the Technical Adviser in a broad remit: for activity centres, ropes courses, climbing walls, for hill walking, mountaineering, gorge scrambling or ghyll scrambles.
The role of the TA in advising business owners in discharging their responsibilities under various legislation is not well understood and this will be explored to ensure colleagues might give good advice. The workshop will also include Assessing Competence in staff delivering activities, Writing Statements of Competence following an assessment by the TA, helping the provider draft suitable operating procedures, risk assessments and staff competency levels.
We'll try to incorporate other topics as requested by those attendign the workshop as well.
The workshop will be delivered by Joby Maw Davis (MIC) and Pete Stacey (MIA and IML). Both have delivered this workshop for AMI members at regional and AGM events; Pete has also delivered this type of workshop for BAIML members as well at their AGMs.
Joby is one of the leading Climbing Wall TA's in the country and also has a wealth of knowledge in advising activity centres.
Pete is an inspector for AALS and also for the Adventuremark and Learning Outside the Classroom schemes. He is a TA for a number of climbing walls, activity centres and ropes courses.
Joby and Pete are also Technical Experts for NICAS and run a wide range of Mountain Training courses.
