Taking groups of any age into mines and caves within the UK is a fast gowing aspect of the outdoor industry its for education, fun or/and adventure.
In many areas of the UK, it is now a main stream activity that outdoor instructors gain freelance work and being a qualified cave or mine leader can prove a useful addition.
This workshop will allow you to fully appreciate why such venues provide such a unique expereince, what customers are being offered, what being a cave or mine leader is all about and how you go about gaining a NGB leadership award allowing you to work underground.
We will visit a classic venue used for groups and on this occasion the veue will be a Welsh slate mine. We will not visit a cave but the scheme for cave and mine is the same apart from venue specific.
There will be no crawling, no tight spaces and you may ask why do this workshop. Well not only will you fully understand whay it takes to be a leader undegerground, you get to visit a slate mine, learn, go on a journey and have a great time. All good CPD for a winters day.
The Britsh Caving Association ( BCA ) are the NGB that oversee the Local Cave and Mine Leader Award within the UK. Thier award structure can prove tricky to fully understand upon forst aquation by the end of this workshop this will all be clear.
