Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.
This is a split weekend assesssment course.
To be held in the Lake District. Venues to be clarified but will generally in the north/north west of the Lakes based around Keswick.
Weekend 1 is on 13/15th November we meet on the Friday evening. There are two assessment days Saturday/Sunday.
Weekend 2 is on 27/29th November. We meet at 10 am on the Friday of the second 'weekend' and we have a 3 day expedition with two wild camps.
Residential accommodation may be available in the area, but on this course we are asking candidates to book this privately.
Ths course is canceled due to Covid 19 issues/lock down/travel and overnight restrictions and a desire to protect the local community in Cumbria, reduce impact and pressure on emergency and public health agencies. It is hoped we can run great courses again in the future.
