This workshop is provided by Mountaineering & Climbing Instructors and members of AMI.
This is an ideal session to get you started with some personal scrambling. Ideal for Mountain Leaders and Rock Climbing Instructors and for those considering moving up to the Mountaineering & Climbing Instructor qualification that are looking for some more personal scrambling experience. The workshop will cover route selection and finding and can cover a range of skills from gaining more confidnence on grade 1 ground to introducing the use of a rope and taking coils, how to protect a scramble, types of anchors and how to use them. Those booked on will be split into groups at the appropriate level.
This workshop will give you all you need to enhance your own personal scrambling skills allowing you to scramble with a colleague as an equal to gain valuable log book experience. This session is not intended to teach you how to be an MCI.
Equipment to bring:
Participants should bring their own Helmet/Harness that both conform to PPE requirements as well as usual hill gear packed in a small neat pack no bigger than 30L. Please also bring dextrous gloves with silicone or leather palm for rope-handling and a helmet compatible warm hat. Walking boots are recommended bet but approach shoes may be worn depending upon suitability to the venue/conditions on the day.
